Improve Child’s General Knowledge

All parents try their best to inculcate in their children good habits which may help them to grow up as smart individuals. They wish their kids to shine in every endeavor, and always be at the top of their game. So, one of the things which is crucial in this process is to develop, early on in life, an interest in general knowledge, so that your child fairs well in today’s cutting-edge competitive world. General knowledge will help them to relate and understand the varied facets of the world and its working better. The stronger is one’s general awareness and knowledge the easier it gets to relate to other subjects; it also has a link to improved problem solving and open-mindedness.
So how does one help their child improve the G.K.? Well, it is not a overnight thing. It is a slow and gradual process. Following steps will help to grow your child’s GK skills
Book Reading: Reading is the best way to increase one’s G.K. One does not have to inculcate a habit of mugging up general knowledge books, in their little ones. Reading in general, be it fiction or non-fiction, in direct or indirect ways help not just the child improving his comprehension and language, but also gaining general knowledge too. Reading helps in invoking general inquisitiveness and ignites an interest in learning more.
Play Educational Games: When play and education is mixed together, children willingly engage in the process. While studying may seem like a forced burden, they will thoroughly enjoy playing games like ‘ATLAS,’ ‘Hop on the World,’ etc. which will make them unconsciously get done with their daily dose of G.K. Class.
Watch Knowledgeable TV Channel: Television can be a great medium to impart general knowledge to your kids in an entertaining manner. Keep a watch on what the child watches. A habit of watching channels like Discovery, National Geographic etc. as well educational broadcasts on Doordarshan can greatly help in expanding your child’s G.K.
Create a Healthy Atmosphere at Home: Encourage discussions at home. On dining table, during meals talk about the important events happening around, encourage your child to be a part of the discussions in their own capacities and clear their doubts and answer their questions. It is most often seen that a family where the parents have deep interest in world affairs and have an exchange of ideas and opinions quite frequently, have the kids too growing up with excellent general awareness.
Newspaper Reading:  Be it adults or kids, anyone who develops a habit of reading the newspaper every day, will definitely have something or the other to talk about, no matter which random topic is picked up. So, if this habit is inculcated early on in life, the child will reap its benefits all along his life. Have a child friendly magazine or newsletter subscribed for your kid, and encourage them to religiously read it thoroughly.

Meditation Helps to Develop Children’s Brain and Behaviour

Meditation gives young children the feeling of being quiet and still. It gives them time to breathe and imagine. In fact, through meditation children learn that it is okay to be whoever they are and feel whatever they feel. Here are few of the benefits of Children’s Meditation 1.       Increase Focus: Now days children are not focused in one subject. They are not so much attentive in their work, between social media and technological gadgets, kids – and adults – are constantly surfing the internet, interacting via social media and playing video games indoors instead of reading a book, taking a walk or playing sports.   Meditation teaches them that it’s possible to direct their attention at one thing at a time, and that it actually feels great not to be distracted. 2.       Boosting Confidence: The confidence develops naturally when kids learn from their meditation practice that they don’t have to react to all of their thoughts and emotions – they can choose which ones merit
