Importance of Extracurricular Activity in a Student's Growth

We all have heard the Hindi saying "Padhoge Likhoge to banoge Nawab, Kheloge Kudoge to Banoge Kharab" well, it's not true! At least not anymore. Research have shown that extracurricular activities help in a child's mental and physical growth, more than that it helps children grow necessary life skills like time management, social behavioural skills, team work, sense of responsibility, develop friendship. These skills are needed to not only grow as an important part of the community but also a sensible and happy human being. As grownups we do not give much thought to or maybe we just cannot fathom how much pressure a child faces while growing up, Pressure to do well in academics, pressure of high expectations from parents, school teachers, private tutors, etc. Most of the parent, especially in cities, pressure their children to do very good in academics, putting them in extra classes an all, covered with so many books a child sometimes misses the most important thing in his life, enjoying his childhood. By all means it is not wrong to push a child to do well in academics but we also need to ensure the right balance. A child needs time to see and learn new things, to wonder, to dreams, make new friends, as parents we need to make sure our children grow up mentally and physically healthy.
With the boom of sports and entertainment in the country there are numerous opportunities in the various sporting  fields, music & dance, singing, photography and many off-beat areas of interest where people are making fortunes. So, we don't need to push students towards becoming doctors and engineers as the previous generation did, we need to help them find their passion and guide them about how they can fulfil those passions and look towards future possibilities. And in this guiding process role of Parents and School teachers are equally important, that is why choosing a good school is an important task for parents. There are very few schools which are up-to such high standards and BDM International School is one of them, it has been voted the best CBSE School in Kolkata 2017.

Reopening of School after Pandemic - The Challenge every school is facing

Though the information available is very less, we know that children and adolescents are prone to COVID-19, but in most cases the action of the disease is much milder in these age groups than in adults. These young people can however constitute a link in the transmission chain, although to a lesser extent than adults. So, from here we cannot rule out the idea that schools are places where this disease can be transmitted by teachers, staff and the students themselves. We also know that many infected individuals can be asymptomatic , making it almost impossible to avoid the risk of infection for others coming in contact. It cannot be stopped by simply prohibiting children and staff with flu-like symptoms or fever from attending school. Neither can school attendance be regulated on the basis of an immunological test because of the mediocre reliability of such tests at this time and the large percentage of the population likely to be negative. The virus can spread through the air as far as...
