International Mother Language Day 2018 celebrated at BDMI

The International Mother Language Day that UNESCO has been celebrating for nearly 20 years with the aim of preserving linguistic diversity and promoting mother tongue-based multilingual education. Linguistic diversity is increasingly threatened as more and more languages fade away. One language disappears on average every two weeks, taking with it an entire cultural and intellectual heritage. The Linguapax Institute, in Barcelona, Spain, aims to preserve and promote linguistic diversity globally. The institute presents the Linguapax Prize on International Mother Language Day each year. The prize is for those who have made outstanding work in linguistic diversity or multilingual education. 21st February was an epoch making event that has been immortalized by Global recognition as declared by UNESCO in 2000 as The International Mother Language Day. The entire state of Bengal celebrates 21st February as the Bangla Bhasha Dibash. Keeping true to the spirit of the state B.D.M. Inte
